Today I was extremely lucky. When I arrived at my UPS facility I took note that all the windows were boarded up and the door to the front entrance had been smashed and boarded up too.
I was in shock because it's a FELONY to purposefully steal people's mail and private packages and punishable with heavy fines.
On the door was a note written by management that there were now reduced hours between 9am till 4pm.
I walked in just in time to find my packages safely stored inside because my packages all arrived late!
According to the manager there was video footage of people breaking and entering and Chicago police not doing anything to stop the violence and looting of everyone's mail and packages.
The manager feels our mayor had advised our police department NOT to take action and to allow the protesters to have their demonstrations unhindered; but in this instance they should have protected a UPS facility because people's private property are being tampered with!
The owner of this particular location received a random anonymous phone call from one of the looters who extorted him for $500 offering to give him his cell phone back in exchange for the money.

Obviously I don't understand every detail of what happened to this UPS franchise in the Gold Coast but I feel saddened that our property wasn't protected by The Chicago police department last week.

It's a hurtful violation to know no one cared to defend one's personal property; but I'm so grateful my packages arrived so late!
