Cathy: Have you ever wondered about an internal condom or also known as a female condom? This is Reid Mihalko from http://www.ReidAboutSex.com/
Reid: Cathy Vartuli from http://www.TheIntimacyDojo.com/. Cathy, what is an internal condom?
Cathy: An internal condom also known as a female condom we’d also done a video on that. Someone very kindly wrote and said please quote an internal condom because not all the vagina owners are identified as female which is a great thank you very much. It is a condom and have this little, one of the companies has a little bag that they gave away in some of the trade shows and I use it for my sex toys bag. This they call it a female condom, do you want to open it up and show them?
Reid: There you go.
Cathy: You can open it up too if you want.
Reid: No, you do it. This is fun.
Cathy: It’s sealed just like of penis owner condom and it has a ridge around the top and this part will go in the outside on the labia and it’s pre lubricated so it’s a little sticky and there is a ring.
Reid: [Inaudible 00:01:13].
Cathy: I forgot that it was lubricated, thank you so much. And there’s a ring that you can press and put inside the vagina and then the dildo or penis or whatever are you using can go inside. This does provides protection around the outside if you’re worried about transmitting herpes or other STI’s. This can provide some protection because it does block some of the skin to skin.
Reid: Skin to skin contact. So for STI’s exposure and transmission can happen to skin to skin contact, this will cover more skin area then just the condom goes than on the shaft on the penis because the base of the shaft in the skin around the pubic mount on the bottom of the scrotal sac
Cathy: Tissue.
Reid: That tissue I hardly even know you. That skin will still touch so this will cover more surface area for the person being penetrated. So some people like using internal condoms for those reasons. Another great reason to call them internal condoms when these were invented the idea was that they were going to this was for female vulva vagina owners to be able to have a condom for themselves that they can insert. So this was like a great empowerment tool around marketing for who they are marketing for coz they really didn’t expect penis owners to want to use these condoms initially. What we have discovered was this was just great for holes. I will use this for receptive anal sex sometimes and this is also non latex.
Cathy: They’re not good for oral sex though that’s not a good hole to use them.
Reid: No don’t put them in your mouth. So for those people who are allergic to latex these are great latex alternative this are also the way that I like to use them for myself if I’m using them and I’m the one doing the penetrating one of the things you can do is you want to take the ring out you kind of reach a bin. And the idea for this ring is when you insert the whole condom this kind of opens up and helps the condom not come out and what my experience has been is I take the ring out cause its gets not poky but bumpy like the penis hits the ring sometimes.
Cathy: It can be good or bad depending on your...
Reid: Depending on the person but I haven’t found these to fall out so again your mileage will vary. The way I like to insert them is I would actually kinda put this over my penis when it is erect and then insert it by using my penis and then make sure you put lube on your penis coz that would help more. But then I slide my penis slowly and kind of hold the outside on so that then it’s not inserted that works really well. You could still practice good condom awareness if you’re the penetrator and making sure that it’s not falling out or something like that but that really worked for me. But the other thing that’s been really useful for this is if you’re practicing anal pleasuring and you or your partner are worried about a mess then this can really be great because when you insert it you can have your pleasure whether if you’re using toys or other peoples body parts and then I if I have insertable condom inserted in me when were done I can sneak off to the bathroom and do clean up there and so that for some people might really great and useful if you have a partner who is kind of poo phobic or germ phobic or whatever that is coz people has different levels of comfortability.
Cathy: I really loved it for hot tub sex as well because if you have a condom on the penis coming in and out the water often wash away the natural lubrication and so that you can put extra lube on the penis or whatever is penetrating but then my vagina doesn’t lose it lubrication cause it’s protected from the water.
Reid: So this I believe is this is the old packaging right the ones that says female condom and you go to http://www.femalecondom.org/ which is on this package and we know the new website is http://www.fc2femalecondom.com/ so check it out.
