How Tantra Ruined My Sex Life...For Good
Tantra, or specifically Neo Western Tantra has played a huge role in my life for the past few years. I used to think I was a very sexual person, I tied my self worth to my sexual prowess, I focused on my lover's pleasure more then I did my own (I didn't really understand the concept of self-pleasure in the first place), I didn't understand the concept of consent or boundaries and when I engaged in hookup culture after my breakup I found it more disempowering rather than empowering (like we are told sleeping with whoever we want is supposed to be). Tantra completely changed my life. It taught me that I was driven by my traumas, that I was programmed and conditioned to behave according to societal standards instead of out of my own internal truth. Tantra taught me about self-love, what pleasure and feeling pleasure in my body really means and that I needed to first focus on understanding myself in order to then have a healthy and fulfilling sex life.

When I realized just how much I didn't know about myself and sex, I because celibate for nearly a year and focused on healing myself, I had a spiritual awakening and realized more about who I really am after sifting through all that I was not which was programmed and conditioned into my brain for me. I learned to set healthy boundaries and how to protect my energy so I can live from an authentic self.

Tantra ruined my old unhealthy sex life, but then tore me up and helped me put myself back together as a new, true to myself version.
